New Layout

I am going to keep this short and simple.  I had issues trying to create this layout for a couple days now.  I had to re-do it a couple times in order to create the best set-up.  Originally, I was going to use myself in the header image but I figured displaying my Wiccan spirituality would be best.  I tried to keep it nice and simple (unlike the pain in the ass coding issues I was going through ><;). Throughout the rest of the week, you will see more tweaks on here such as custom social media icons for my sidebar,  more content on my various informational pages and such.  This layout colour scheme is more my rather than that half-ass tweaked pink and white layout.

Oh!  I am aware of my layout looking funny in Internet Explorer.  First, I use Firefox all the time so I worked with my tweaking in FF.  Second, I don’t know how to get the layout to work properly in IE or how the issues are in other browsers.  If you have any issues in  your browser, please let me know and I will see how to fix it (my coding skills are pretty much back to basics since being gone for so long).

One more thing before I go to sleep (it’s just after 10.30pm here and I’ve bee n staying up til midnight the past couple nights just working on the new layout), if you have any suggestions for anything on my domain, please share with me.  I am always up to try new ideas.

With what Angelica has been saying about my coding and I don’t have the entire time to do much extra coding, I may consider that offer.

Daaamn, I wrote a long comment and then accidentally closed the tab! Oh well, let’s see if I remember what I wrote.

This must be the layout partly based on mine right? I’m very glad I could inspire you and this looks nice. :) I read your tweets but forgot to reply to them since I haven’t used Twitter in a couple of days.

Regarding CSS tutorials I don’t really know any good tutorial sites. I just google things when I wonder how something works. I know a few things you could google though.

First of all it looks like you’re using images to create the rounded corner look. There is a CSS property called border-radius which can be used to code rounded corners, working much like the border property. It’s something which makes making a layout like this a lot easier. Because right now the footer isn’t properly aligned with the main content box. There is a slight alignment problem with the header as well. While you google that you could also look into the box-shadow property which can be used to create shadows around boxes.

Another thing you might want to use is custom fonts. You’re using some kind of plugin for the custom fonts in the sidebar, am I correct? There’s no need for that any more. Now all browsers except for Internet Explorer (because it sucks as usual) allows you to install a custom font on your site. Basically you upload any font you want to use to your domain and use a special CSS property to call on that font which you then can use all over your site.

Well those are some usual CSS codes you could try out. Hopefully something I wrote here can be of help. Feel free to ask me any questions if you need web design help. :)

I really appreciate the advice. *reads over again* Yes, my header image has the rounds on it. Uh…*looks again* I tried to fuck with the footer and header and it’s fine on my end. I have no clue how to make it friendly for the other browsers cos my coding is pretty much newbie-style again. I don’t have anything installed for custom fonts. This layout was tweaked from a pre-made layout cos I cannot code from scratch even while being guided through a clear WordPress theme tutorial.
