Thrifty Finds #01

As mentioned in my post before this one, I will be having another series of entries about the goodies I find at the various thrift stores in town.  Sometimes it’s a hit or miss situation: You either find something or you don’t.  Some days you leave with nothing.  I know the feeling all too well.  I usually find some cheap clothing (sometimes hard because I am a 16W/1X plus size women’s clothing here in the US), items I can use for my Wiccan practices (scoopers for bath salts, jars, candles, etc.) and whatever else.  I did go today to my three usual spots here in town: Rescued Treasures, Salvation Army and Goodwill.  So, you are asking yourself, “What did Ravie find today?”  Well I shall show you!

  1. Jewellery and Jewellery Organizer: Got these at the Salvation Army.  I recently got my ears pierced and next weekend will be when I can finally take the starter earrings out and use any earrings I wish!  These feather earrings were $1.  I found this cool dolphin surfboard necklace next to the earrings for $3.  It reminds me so much like Hawaii!  Nearby was this cute black star earring and necklace organizer for $2.  It will come in handy for when I start developing my earring collection.
  2. Lego Pirates of the Caribbean (PS3): For $8 at Goodwill, can you not blame me for getting this, especially if the game just came out last month AND is still brand new in its original shrink packaging?  I do not plan on playing this…instead I plan on putting it up on eBay for sale.  The game averages on the site for about $30.  I will list it up for sale/auction once I wipe off the marker price tag (and take a picture of it without the marker) I listed the game on eBay last night. $10 starting bid or $30 Buy It Now (with $4 shipping).  I woke up to see somebody already purchased it.  After fees…I ended up getting $32.71 USD!

These days, thrift stores can be a fun place to shop.  You honestly never know what you will find (especially when I got those two Wicca books at the Salvation Army in Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii in February >>).  Keep your eyes open and don’t be afraid to step into thrift stores because you may just walk out with something wonderful!

I love thrifting! You always find unique items at a great price. Those earrings are so pretty :] I’ve wanted to find something similar for a while now, I’ve just never gotten around to it.
